تخرج في جامعة العلوم والتكنولوجيا الأردنية بدرجة البكالوريوس في التكنولوجيا الحيوية والهندسة الوراثية (معتمدة من (ASIIN) الوكالة الألمانية لبرامج الدراسة في الهندسة وعلوم المعلومات والعلوم الطبيعية والرياضيات)، ثم حصل على درجة الماجستير في التكنولوجيا الحيوية من جامعة اليرموك (YU). ثم التحق بعد ذلك بمركز الحسين للسرطان.
حصل وليد على درجة الدكتوراه في علم الأمراض من كلية الطب بجامعة نيو ساوث ويلز (UNSW) في سيدني، أستراليا، حيث كان يهدف إلى الجمع بين خلفيته في علم الأمراض الجزيئي والتقنيات الفيزيائية الحيوية الجديدة. وهو معتمد من قبل HEAC لتدريس علم وظائف الأعضاء البشرية للطلاب.

لدى وليد اهتمامات بحثية مهمة في علم الأمراض على المستوى الجزيئي. بالإضافة إلى ذلك ، تقدم وليد بطلب للحصول على تمويل بحثي في الجامعة الألمانية الأردنية لبدء مشروعه الجديد على Microbiota البشرية على وجه التحديد.
