In the presence of a number of Jordanian universities’ presidents and representatives of educational institutions, the German Jordanian University participated in a workshop about open educational resources that was organized by the ministry of Higher Education Scientific Research.
The workshop purposes for defining the open educational resources (OER )which are digitised materials offered freely and openly for educators, students, and self-learners to use and reuse for teaching, learning, and research. OER includes learning content, software tools to develop, use, and distribute content, and implementation resources such as open licences. It also include full courses, course materials, modules, textbooks, streaming videos, tests, software, and any other tools, materials, or techniques used to support access to knowledge.
The workshop also enhances the concept of cooperation between all educational institutions in that area.
During the workshop, a detailed presentation was given about the experience of Sultanate of Oman in establishing open educational resource center and the partnership between the Queen Rania Foundation for Education and Development and GJU of launch theNational Education Course electronically on the Edrak platform, which Is a non-profit Arabic platform for Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and is the first of its kind in the region.
Both sides ( Edrak and GJU ) worked hard on converting the regular educational curriculum to digital curriculum content includes illustrated lectures and educational multimedia content.
