The School of Nursing at the German Jordanian University (GJU) organized a specialized training workshop on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for pregnant women, in accordance with the European Resuscitation Council (ERC 2023) guidelines. The workshop was delivered by Dr. Judith Anke, Visiting Professor from Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Germany.
The workshop aimed to equip nursing students with essential skills for the safe and effective management of cardiopulmonary resuscitation in pregnant women, with a focus on the key modifications required during resuscitation. These included left uterine displacement after the twentieth week of pregnancy, performing chest compressions at the recommended rate and depth, and highlighting the role of emergency cesarean delivery when spontaneous circulation is not restored within the first few minutes of resuscitation.
The workshop featured intensive hands-on training using simulation mannequins, alongside a review of clinical case scenarios that highlighted the challenges associated with resuscitating pregnant patients. It also included an overview of the European Chain of Survival and emphasized the importance of rapid, structured intervention in line with the latest ERC 2023 guidelines.
The workshop concluded with an interactive discussion with students on applying evidence-based guidelines in clinical practice, further enhancing their preparedness to respond effectively to emergency situations in clinical settings.
