Amman- 19 December 2021

The School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) participated in the “Energy Efficient Portable Shelter for the Displaced” workshop that included SABE students, Dr. Ing. Farah AlAtrash and Teaching Assistant Arch. Linda Mazahreh.
The Study Group Mobility at the German Jordanian University funded the workshop. The workshop took place in Würzburg as a cooperation between the GJU and FHWS between 13 -19 of November 2021.
Workshops are an effective way to incorporate different disciplines into learning. By interacting with experts and students from other fields, architecture students can expand their benefit from the integrated approaches of Architecture, Civil Engineering, and Economic Development.
The cooperation started between Dr. Ing. Farah AlAtrash (GJU), Dr. Jürgen Köberlein-Kerler and Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Gunther Benkert in the field of sustainable development which was reflected on the design of the "Sustainable Planning I” a master course offered by the Department of Architecture (GJU) and taught by Dr. Farah Al Atrash.
The intensive Building Energy Modeling workshop In Würzburg- Germany, has equipped our students with knowledge related to building science, software training to design energy-efficient and passive design buildings that enhance the indoor and outdoor environment, energy consumption, thermal comfort for underprivileged sections of our society, and reduce carbon emissions.
The participants expressed that the workshop increased their awareness of the topic of sustainability and its simulations.
