CfW Nabateae I – Restoration of Nabatean Flood Management Infrastructure in the watershed of World Hertitage Site Petra

Project Description:
The primary aim of this project funded by the GIZ, is to support vulnerable Jordanian communities by contributing to mitigation of the flooding and soil erosion problems through the provision of livelihood opportunities (cash for work).
To that end, the overall objectives are as follows:
- To promote livelihood opportunities to vulnerable citizens, Syrian refugees, and host community members in the surrounding area of Petra.
- To mitigate the risk of flash floods and soil erosion in Hraimieh and Wadi Madras through the rehabilitation of a series of ancient Nabatean check dams and terraces.
