The German Jordanian University (GJU) in collaboration with the Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT), organized a specialized workshop in building projects to assist education in Syrian refugee camps and to link them with technology.

 

The workshop, which took place at PSUT on Wednesday 5 March, 2014, aimed at introducing the project named “Computer Clubs-Come In “  to the Syrian children refugees ,in order to  recognize their needs in the field of education and technology.

 

Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, Vice-President for Academic Affairs at PSUT, welcomed all the guests who participated in the workshop and assured them of the importance of exchanging expertise between Germany and other countries.

 

For his part Prof. Anton Mangstl , also greeted  the participants and emphasized that  GJU is always keen to participate in such workshops as it a good opportunity to support the Syrian refugees issue, in the light of the fact that Jordan is one of the Syria's neighboring nations and has provided shelter for many Syrian refugees.

 

Prof. Volker Wolf, from the University of Siegen –Germany, explained the main features of the project entitled “Intercultural Computer Club- Come IN), which was established in cooperation with elementary school, children, and parents, and with participation on a voluntary basis within a multicultural neighborhood.

 

He also spoke about the idea of “Come In “ with regard to that came from immigration as a global phenomenon and integration as a big challenge. In addition, they are seeking to set up new computer clubs in different contexts and build a partnership between the universities and computer clubs.
