Upon an invitation through the GJU Project Office at the University Magdeburg-Stendal the German Jordanian University (GJU) represented by Vice President Prof. Ralf Roßkopf, Director German Language Center Jacqueline Rogler, Director International Office Stefanie Kirsch, Director Office of Industrial Links Britta Kähler met with More than 40 participants from 25 partner universities in Germany.
Prof. Dr. Anne Lequy, Project Leader and President of the UAS Magdeburg-Stendal, opened the meeting, where Dr. Monica Heitz, the Project Coordinator at the GJU Project Office, gave an update on the dynamic developments of GJU in general and the German Dimension in specific.
Vice President Prof. Ralf Roßkopf stressed that GJU had reached a status to meet with the German partners on eye level and payback for the great support GJU students receive during their obligatory German Year by German partner universities. German partners could benefit from GJU’s strength in scientific research and publications for joint projects and research clusters as well as participate in developing transnational education further through a smart combination of physical and digital means.”
During the meeting, the participants contributed in three workshops,
- International Offices – Coordination of the German Year: Preparations for the year in Germany / German language skills/ German intensive courses before the study semester & problem of overlapping with the summer semester / GJU Code of Conduct on the Germany Year / dealing with the Expectations of GJU Students / participation of GJU students in introductory events).
- Career Services – Internship search and internship phase: Preparations for the internship in Germany at the GJU and feedback from the Career Services / exchange formats for closer networking between GJU (OIL/GLC/PO) and Career Services.
- Intensifying of the Cooperation between GJU and German Partner Universities: Design & implementation of virtual mobility / smart mobility / guideline of the GJU Committee on the Integration of International Online Teaching / Erasmus-Plus and joint degree programs as well as doctoral rights for HAW/ doctoral centers.
The participants valued high the format of the meeting and the open discussions. They showed appreciation for the development GJU took despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
