Mr. Stephan Steinlein, the State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office-Germany visited the German Jordanian University in the presence of his excellency Mr. Ralph Tarraf, the German Ambassador, on Sunday 18 May 2014. The visit aimed at reconnoitering the GJU establishment, programs, achievements, and future plans.
Prof. Natheer Abu Obeid, the GJU President, welcomed the guest and stated that this visit will enhance the culture and political interaction between both parties.
He also said that GJU is always seeking to build partnerships with European educational institutions along with the German institutions and companies to create new opportunities for students, pointing out to the great and successful partnership with Germany as well.
Furthermore, Prof. Abu Obeid presented GJU as a unique model of applied sciences universities, mentioning the transferring of the School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) to Jabal Amman- Darat Othman Bdeir, which is considered a very successful story for GJU.
Mr. Steinlein expressed his gratitude to the President for hosting him and said that he is extremely impressed by the level of openness and hospitality of the GJU.
He also emphasized that this meeting is very important and it comes in light of their vision, which aims for approaching different institutions of civil society and diplomatic bodies in Jordan.
A round table of discussion was held with some directors at GJU, administrative staff and some students, who were all briefed about their experience and the main challenges they faced during their academic and work life at GJU and in Germany.
It is worth mentioning that the meeting was attended by the Vice President of GJU Prof. Manar Fayyad, and the GJU Vice President for International Affairs prof. Anton Mangstl.
At the end of the meeting, the guest took a tour through GJU Campus.
