In collaboration with Jordan Traffic Institute-Public Security Directorate, the Deanship of Student Affairs at GJU organized a lecture about road and traffic safety on Monday, 26 May, 2014.
Increased traffic is one of the social impacts of mining operations nowadays. Therefore GJU is always seeking to collaborate with many national and regional agencies in charge of road safety to raise awareness among drivers especially students.
Representatives from Jordan Traffic Institute lectured at GJU about this issue in order to raise awareness in students and to reduce loss of life and property caused by traffic accidents. They elaborated the problem of traffic accidents and their consequences.
They advised students that we should all work together to have clear milestones to eliminate this painful phenomenon from our society , pointing out to some statistics that has time and again shown that a great proportion of the people involved in road accidents are school children. A child is killed in an accident every three minutes.
They also tried to distribute safety advice through traffic accident videos and latest studies and statistics of World Health Organization (WHO) to show numbers of victims.
It is worth mentioning that Prof. Abu Obeid, the GJU President, is always urging students to drive responsibly or even to use the buses, to avoid accidents and for their own safety.
