The German Jordanian University participated in the second Arab-Euro Conference on Higher Education, that took place at Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) on Tuesday, 10 June, 2014, with the participation of 200 presidents of Arab and European universities.  

 

The two-day conference, inaugurated by HRH Princess Sumaya, chairperson of the Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) board of trustees, is organized by the Association of Arab Universities and the European University Association in cooperation with PSUT.

 

Prof. Natheer Abu Obeid, the GJU President, was one of the fourth panelists who opened panel one that was entitled “Internationalization through Mobility Programs”.

 

Moreover, Prof. Abu Obeid gave a presentation about the story of GJU, highlighting the most remarkable features of the university, the German year, the unique specialists, its wide network - with more than 85 universities in Germany - as well as the exchange programs.

 

He further emphasized that GJU has a unique educational environment through bridging between the German professors and the students, pointing out that the Language Center at GJU provides Arabic language courses for foreigners, especially to Germans.     

 

This major event encourages Rectors, Presidents and Vice-chancellors from both regions to rethink the role of the university in the current context of internationalization and to examine the introduction of new functions to tackle socio-economic challenges in the Arab, Euro and Arab-Euro contexts.

 

It is worth mentioning that GJU had also a booth beside many European and Arab universities, during the conference days, showing the University fliers, brochures, yearbooks and much more.
