On Tuesday 22 July, 2014, the GJU President Prof. Natheer Abu. Obeid metPeter Haaks, Executive Director Middle East at DB International and Farah Nimri, Assistant Engineer to the Regional Director and a GJU graduate in the presence of the GJU Vice President for International Affairs, Prof. Anton Mangstl.
Both sides discussed possibilities of further developing the excellent cooperation in the areas of education, training, and business development, as well as the developments in GJU and DB International’s activities worldwide and in the region.
The German Jordanian University and DB International GmbH signed a joint agreement aiming at enhancing mutual cooperation among both parties on 22 October 2012. The agreement aimed at providing job opportunities for trainees and top GJU graduates. The program has received excellent feedback so far, and DBI is now planning to hire more GJU graduates for its “Young Engineers Program”.
Prof. Abu Obeid emphasized that the collaboration with a huge and global company like DBI in developing the infrastructure of the current market demands is very important to GJU. He also added that seeing GJU graduates performing well outside is a pride to the university.
The president assured that GJU is working to establish a study program, addressing various types of engineering especially in railways and trains, as it highly contributes to the Globalization of the rail transport sector, and improving the educational environment for students to be effective members in the society.
For his part, Mr. Haaks, said that DB International is looking after to cooperate with GJU, as it has motivated engineers who are eligible to maintain the prospective goals of the company’s projects. He pointed out that the company is focusing currently on the Arabian Peninsula, where DB International has a major involvement in the planning of several large projects in Saudi Arabia, UAE and other countries in the region.
He further briefed about the company which was founded in 1966 as the consultancy firm DE-Consult –plays an important role today in the internationalization strategy of the DB Group and markets German expertise worldwide.
