On November 29th,the Arabic Language and Culture Program at the German-Jordanian University held a workshop under the title “ Ammiya Language for non-
Native Arabic Speakers”.
The workshop is part of a series of activities offered by the university for the German students enrolled in the program.
Dr. Thelal Oweis , Coordinator of the program emphasized that the workshop aims at improving the performance of the students in the Jordanian colloquial accent in order to use it in their daily life in Jordan.
The workshop was presented by Dr.Yousef Rababa and Dr.Yousef Hamdan from AL-Mashriq Center for Arabic Instruction , who are both focused on the importance of Ammiya Language that is used between the different Governorates of Jordan.
The program is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The number of the students enrolled in the program for the first semester is 24 students, who are coming from 10 different German universities.
It is worthy to mention that the workshop was organized by Prof. Jochen Pleines; Advisor for the presidency for the program issues and Dr.Thelal Oweis. Prof. Pleines is currently contacting some of the German and European universities to sign MoUs , in order to attract good number of students to the program .
