The German Jordanian University and Jordan Environment Society signed on Wednesday a memorandum of understanding to encourage students who are interested in environmental issues to volunteer and work in the environmental associations.
The memo that was signed by Prof. Suhil Kiwan Dean of School of Natural Resources Engineering and Management, on behalf of GJU and the Head of Jordan Environment Society, Ms. Esra’a Turk, stipulates to achieve a sustainable development and to work on the issues that are touching the rights of the Jordanian citizen in a healthy environment.
The MoU aims at activating the role of environmental associations through encouraging students to volunteer and serving the environmental issues in Jordan, also raising environmental awareness and linking it with the belonging culture among students.
Prof. Suhil Kiwan pointed out to the importance of activating the memo by proposing environmental initiatives, planting trees around the university and serve the local community.
The signing was attending by Prof. Nizar Abu-Jaber, Director of Study of Natural and Cultural Heritage Center (CSNACH ) at GJU, Vice Dean Dr. Munjed AL-Sharif, Dr. Muna Hindiyeh as well as students of Water and Environmental Engineering.
