A project by Enas Abboud, Mechatronics student, and Mohamed Abu Hantash, Biomedical Engineering student, won the first place at the Eighth National Technology Festival (Medical and Technology) which took place at the University of Jordan on 29 April, 2015.
The German Jordanian University has been involved in three projects where they all were nominated for the assessment of the second phase. Among the projects that were nominated for the second phase the project "Pneumatic Upper Limb Exoskeleton” by the students Enas Aboud and Mohamed Abu Hantash under the supervision of Dr. Jumana Abu Khalaf and Jumana Matuq.
The project aims for designing external suit that enables a person to hold extra weights and could be used during Military services or at hospitals to be able to hold a patient or heavy medical equipment safely.
The Festival was launched from the University of Jordan in 2008. It happens every year at different Jordanian universities. It is considered to be the most effective activity at the level of Jordanian universities in the field of Engineering and Internet Technology, through which projects of students from different Jordanian universities are showed; knowledge and necessary expertise are exchanged to help students in the future have active presence in the labor market.
The festival also aims to stimulate students' creativity, innovation, and link research and graduation projects with the national Jordanian industry’s needs. Graduation projects’ prizes are given within 9 axes that include: Green and sustainable technology, defensive applications and secure technology, public safety and quality of life, games and entertainment applications, bio-medical and health technology, industrial technology, business technology, technology for people with special needs, and the e-learning.
