The German Jordanian University has won the first and second places in the Second Jordanian Interior Design Competition that was dedicated for Jordanian universities. The Competition was organized by the Jordanian Interior Design Association in cooperation with "IKEA Jordan” and with the participation of 32 students from 5 Jordanian universities.
The head of the association Eng. Susan Abu Jaber said during the awards ceremony that the competition was organized for the second year in a row. She added that the idea of the competition this year was to create a single integrated housing studio 8 m * 8 m area and 8 m high. The studio includes a 4 m length, 6 m high, 30 c.m. thick with an inner area between 80 square meters to 1,000 square meters structural wall.
Dr. Fedaa Salah, lecturer at the Design and Visual Communication Department, said that the students Issa Khoury and Lara Dessie won the first and second prizes and Sally Shka’ah a discretionary award.
She added that winning the competition was due to the continuous work and effort of students which represented the university’s mission to pursuit excellence, innovation and leadership through the university’s academic plans that rely on a combination of theoretical and practical education to keep up with the labor market requirements.
Furthermore, the students who awarded expressed their overwhelming happiness for this achievement yet being thankful and appreciated to the University, the Association and "Ikea" Jordan for supporting the university students and motivating them to be creative and innovative in this field.
They also added that this victory will support their participation at international competitions which will be held in the future.
It is worthy to mention that the awards ceremony was organized at the headquarters of “IKEA" Jordan located on airport road. It was attended in the presence of Prof. Nahteer Abu Obeid, President of GJU, Dr. Mohammed Yaghan, Dean of Architecture and Built Environment and heads of design departments at the participated universities in the competition which are: The University of Jordan, Al Ahliya University of Amman, Applied Sciences University, the German Jordanian University and Petra University.
