On December 3rd, the students of Arabic language and Culture visited the Jordanian Senate as part of their weekly extracurricular activities.

As customary, the students were escorted and seated at one of the official meeting halls in the Parliament. His Excellency Abed Al-Elah Al-Khateeb was briefed by Dr. Thelal Oweis on the Arabic Language and Culture program and the cooperation between the German Jordanian University and the many German universities in the field of teaching Arabic Language as a foreign language. His Excellency was impressed by the unique and great role the university plays in connecting the best of the two worlds tightly.

His Excellency started his speech by talking about the political system in Jordan. He explained for the students the composition of the House of Representatives and the Senate, and the functions of the three branches of authority; The Executive, The Legislative and The Judicial in Jordan. He also focused on the great role that Jordan is playing in today’s world and the immense responsibility towards the peace dialogue and conflict resolution in the region.

He also concentrated on the promising and youthful populations of Jordan and that the responsibility of the Jordanian government is to create new job opportunities to meet their aspiration. He added that it is incumbent on us to protect our youth against the extremist ideologies.

In the end, the students were given the opportunity to ask questions that they had pertaining to the information that was explained to them. The students also had the opportunity to go for a round in the parliament.
