Amman-March 19 , 2016

Students enrolled in the School of Languages (SAHL) program German and English for Business Communication (GEBC) were welcomed by the Civil Service Bureau (CSB) on March 19th, 2016.

The visit’s objective was to introduce GEBC to future employment ventures in the public sector.  The Head of Information Technology and Human Resources, Mr. Mubarak Al Khalaileh, explained that the main goal of CSB is to manage and safeguard employee affairs in the public sector and offer job opportunities in a fair and systematic manner.

One of the topics GEBC students showed concern about is where they fit in this systematic and categorized employment system. According to the CSB policy of employment, applicants apply through an electronic portal where they are given an online profile to follow up on their job request and online exam. Each applicant is given a chance to take the exam three times per year in case he or she fails. Furthermore, Public sector jobs are always posted in the local newspaper Al Rai every week.

Each year the CSB receives a ratio of 3 to 1 women versus men applicants where 50% of these applications are for the education field.  As per the recent CSB count 10,000 public sector employees have been employed this year.

GEBC students are optimistic about being one of those 10,000 employees in the near future. With a user friendly and an objective system of handling employment requests, GEBC students are hopeful that they will get the chance to enlist their GEBC program in the system as one of the major fields for employment.
