SABE participates in a workshop with the students of TU Dortmund in the workshop titled “Intercultural Dialog towards Reclaiming Public Spaces within Metropolitan Areas”
In collaboration between TU Dortmund - Faculty of Spatial Planning and GJU – School of Architecture and Built Environment, a joint workshop was held at TU-Dortmund from 17th till 20th of May, 2016 as part of the three year academic collaboration project funded by DAAD on Intercultural Dialog towards Reclaiming Public Spaces within Metropolitan Areas, which is headed by Dr. Maram Tawil on the side of the GJU and Prof. Christa Reicher on the side of TU Dortmund.
The workshop was conducted with the presence of students from both Faculties and headed by Dr. Janset Shawash and Arch. Lina Haddadin from GJU, and with the leadership and participation of Prof. Christa Reicher, Dr. Mais Jafari, Dr. Jan Polivka and Dipl. Ing. Katja Schlisio from TU Dortmund.
The four-day workshop aimed to further develop the collaborative project that formed the focus of the students’ work in the past months, aiming to understand the successful planning strategies implemented in the development of the Ruhr area and in several projects in the city of Dortmund. The students collaborated on producing planning proposals for the development of Wadi Amman corridor in the city of Amman, with specific focus given to the revitalization of Marka district as a site with industrial heritage and character.
