Amman – August 10 , 2106

On August 10, 2016, the Mechatronics Department of the School of Applied Technical Sciences (SATS) held its first graduation project defense in a company in Germany. Students at GJU are allowed to conduct their graduation project in Germany after the successful completion of their German exchange year (exchange semester and internship). Students can register both Graduation projects I & II in the GJU, however the work is conducted in a German company or a partner University. Normally, students present their work in GJU after their return to Jordan.

In a new graduation project evaluation manner, the fifth year student Ghaith Alshishani defended his project “Development Of Auxiliary Load Simulation Mechanism In Engine Test Benches” in IAV (Ingenieurgesellschaft Auto und Verkehr) which is a German Automotive development company. As GJU has a very clear strategy towards industrial-academic partnership, the student's supervisor at GJU, Dr. Ala'aldeen Al-Halhouli, arranged for the defense in coordination with the project supervisor at IAV: Dr.-Ing. Christian Wesemeyer. This is to involve companies, as direct supervisors on the conducted project, in evaluating the students' performance as well as project outcomes and to discuss further industrial inputs that GJU students can benefit from. The evaluation committee included in person: Dr. Al-Halhouli and Dr. Wesemeyer, as well as per skype: Dr. Wael Alkouz and Dr. Jumana Abu-Khalaf.

After the defense, Dr. Ala'aldeen explored IAV’s facilities and test benches while discussing with Dr. Wesemeyer the common collaboration possibilities between GJU and IAV.
