SADAQA-towards a work friendly environment for women in Jordan awarded the German Jordanian University for establishing a daycare for its workers during the Daycare Value on Employers and Awarding Ceremony that was held at Haya Cultural Center on Sunday, September4, 2016.
The ceremony included a Launch of the Research “Value of Daycare at the Workplace: Case Study on the Telecommunication Sector” that was resulted in; daycare provision is a national priority, daycares at workplace contribute to financial gains, and to be deemed as a public good.
Dr. Abdullah Raqqad , chairman and managing director of GJU’s daycare said that the university has established the daycare three months ago according to the standards ,conditions and objectives of Ministry of Social Development that are aiming at providing the best environment for children.
The daycare accommodates up to 36 kids, where workers can take care of their children while at work.
Several companies and organisations were recognised during the event for their efforts in establishing daycare facilities in their workspaces, and for finding creative solutions for their employees.
They included: Petra University, Al Zaytouneh University of Jordan, Asamia International School, International Leaders Academy, MAS Apparel Manufacturing Company, Optimiza, the Ministry of Social Development, the ICT Ministry, Dar Al Handasah as well as the German-Jordanian University.
