The last official activity of the Tempus Project “Curriculum and Skill Development in Vision Rehabilitation” took place at the German Jordanian University (GJU) Vision Training Center on Thursday 8 of September.
The event concluded a week of dissemination activities in Jordan and the West Bank aiming at raising awareness among the different professionals in the field of rehabilitation on the needs of persons with visual impairment and the importance of developing adequate services.
The keynote speaker was Dr. Krister Inde, a low vision expert from Sweden who is himself a person with low vision. The audience included representatives of partner institutions in Palestine, Hungary, the Netherlands and the UK, the team of the GJU Vision Training Center, GJU officials, the representatives of the Erasmus + Jordan office as well as the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, H.E. Dr. Wajih Oweis.
The Minister expressed his utmost delight for the positive impacts of project, declaring his full support to the center. He further thanked Dr. Nathalie Bussières, director of the GJU Vision Training Center and project coordinator and the Erasmus + Jordan office for their efforts for making this project possible and successful.
For his part, Prof. Natheer Abu Obeid , the GJU President emphasized that the Vision Training Center is a part of GJU role in linking between education and community, praising the great job done by the team in coming out with a successful results. Furthermore, he extended his appreciation to all the fellow participants for their efforts in this project, which will result in better curricula for optometrists, occupational therapists and physiotherapist in the partner Universities in Jordan and the West Bank and will enable the clinical instructors to provide better services to the community.
