On the occasion of the Arabic Language day, The German Jordanian University's Consultation and Training Center in cooperation with the School of Applied Humanities and Languages conducted a workshop on "Creative Writing in Arabic Language ". The workshop was presented by the writer Ali Obeidat and was attended by 28 German students who are enrolled in the program of "Arabic Language and Culture ". Mr. Obeidat tackled the following genres of creative writing ;Poetry ,Fiction (novels, novellas, and short stories),Memoirs ,Biographies , Diaries and essays.
He also taught the students how to use several techniques in creative writing including: Character development, Plot development, Vivid setting Underlying theme, Point of view , Anecdotes ,Metaphors and similes, Figures of speech, Imaginative language , and also Emotional appeal.
The program “Arabic Language and Culture” (ALC) was initiated by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and established by the German Jordanian University (GJU) in 2014.
The program hosts students from several German universities who come to the GJU to study for a whole semester. It implements the didactic concepts developed at the Bochum University “Institute for Intensive Language Teaching” (LSI) which have been developed further and adapted to the Jordanian framework. The principal target group for this program are students of German universities registered in several B. A. programs majoring in Islamic Studies, Arabic Language and Literature, Oriental Studies etc.
