انضم الدكتور مدانات إلى الجامعة الألمانية الأردنية كأستاذ للاقتصاد في سبتمبر 2014. وقبل ذلك كان لديه أكثر من 15 عامًا من الخبرة في مشاريع الإصلاح المالي الحكومي في الأردن، بما في ذلك سبع سنوات كمستشار للسياسات الاقتصادية مع التعاون الإنمائي الألماني (GIZ) في وزارة المالية. كان الدكتور مدانات عضوًا في مجلس إدارة شركة المناطق التنموية الأردنية (JDZ)، وعضوًا في اللجنة الاستشارية للدعم في وزارة المالية وعضوًا في اللجنة الفنية للسكك الحديدية الوطنية، بوزارة النقل. من 2011-2013 كان مديرًا بالإنابة لمديرية الدراسات والسياسات الاقتصادية في وزارة المالية. من 2008-2011، كان الدكتور مدانات مسؤولاً عن إنشاء وإدارة وحدة المالية الكلية في وزارة المالية، وكانت مهامه الرئيسية هي التخطيط الاستراتيجي واللامركزية المالية والتنبؤ المالي وتقنيات النمذجة. من 2000-2007 عمل كخبير اقتصادي في وزارة المالية.
