Amman, 31 March, 2014

The School of Computer Engineering and Information Technology at GJU organized a lecture entitled “On the Diversity of Higher Education” by prof. Dr. Harald Baier, HS Darmstadt, on Monday 31st March, 2014.

The lecture aimed at discussing the different models of higher education, cooperative education programs, and the most significant learning results from cooperative education that exist as an educational value.

Prof. Baier, gave a presentation about the establishment of the IT cooperative study program at the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt.

He also explained the purpose of the Cooperative Education program, which involves regularly scheduled employment, giving students opportunity to experience theory in practice while developing competencies through supervised training at a job related to occupational or educational objective.

The companies and universities should enter into a contract to agree on practical phases during the study program. This helps to integrate related academic preparation with a practical work experience, thereby giving students a better insight into potential career fields.

The lecture was attended by Prof. Dr. Majed Abu Zreig, the Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Dorothea Jecht, Director of the International Office, and Dr. Christina B. Class, Assistant Professor, and Exchange Coordinator at the School of Computer Engineering and Information Technology.
