The School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) at GJU in cooperation with the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development organized a specialized workshop on Green-Buildings.

The workshop aimed at presenting the competition of creative designs of green-buildings to the SABE students, which was organized by the Fund / Queen Alia for Social Responsibility in its seventh year in collaboration with the Engineers Association.

The media spokesperson and a member of the supervising committee of the competition Eng. Emad Al Dabbas, said that this competition is targeting youth/ university students to motivate them to find innovative solutions for the issues and challenges that Jordan is faceing in the field of energy, water and environment and climate change.

He further pointed out the importance of the participation of the largest possible number of engineering students at universities within multi-disciplinary teams to achieve a typical solution for the building to be designed. 

For his part, Eng. Bashar Al.Bitar, a member of the supervising committee of the competition, confirmed that this competition aimed this year to design the first Green mosque in the Kingdom that would also take into consideration the standards of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Holy Places and conditions of sustainability.  

On her side, Arch. Farah Al-Atrash, Lecturer at SABE, called on students to participate in the competition.

At the end of the workshop, which was attended by faculty members and design students a discussion was held about the competition, the mechanism of participation and the required criteria for the proper design.
