Applying for Visa to Jordan
1. If you have an EU, Turkish, British, American or Canadian passport, you do NOT need to get a visa before coming to Jordan. You can enter Jordan simply with a 30-day Tourist Visa, which can be bought directly at the airport upon arrival; it costs 40 JOD (approximately 50 Euros). This 30-day visa can then be extended without any problems in Jordan (by three months, and then again by three months). Different rules are applied for other nationalities; please refer to the Jordanian Embassy at your country for more information!
2. Later on, you can extend your Tourist Visa to 3 months at the nearest police station to your living area. You must take the following documents with you:
Your Passport
Your GJU Student ID card
A Confirmation of Registration at GJU (Ethbaat Taleb) – issued by the Registration Department
Living Place Confirmation document – the IO will provide you with this document
3. You can extend this visa again, for another 3 months (6 months in total) as follows:
You must go to the Borders & Residence Department, which is located in Tla’ Al-Ali, Amman and take the following documents with you:
Your Passport
Your GJU Student ID card
A Confirmation of Registration at GJU (Ethbaat Taleb)
Alternatively, at the nearest police station, if you have left Jordan during the first 3-months visa, you will need the same documents mentioned in point 2.
Check the website of the Borders & Residence Department for more information: https://www.psd.gov.jo/index.php/en/2016-08-24-07-07-42/borders-and-resi...
4. In case you have/want to stay longer than 6 months in Jordan, you should do the following:
If you are planning to study at GJU for 2 semesters or to do an internship in Jordan after the end of your exchange semester at GJU, we recommend you to apply for a 1-year Residence Permit at the Jordanian Ministry of Interior during your first days in Jordan (after you get enrolled at GJU).
Please let us know about that in advance, so that we can provide you with the requested documents and assist you through the whole process, which will take some time!
