Biography

Am a multinational-driven scientist. Have enjoyed the journey of achievements during my career. I finally ended up working for the German Jordanian University (GJU). To me, young bodies always need the best possible chance if they are to thrive in a rapidly changing world. GJU identifies the importance of the impact its work has in diverse grounds including community engagement and outreach. It advances the development and optimization of impact by promoting its members to believe about the impact, both inside and outside academia, or their past, current and future mission, and giving support for those who wish to develop their achievements. I have enjoyed such achievements with my short career at GJU. Where such achievements for academic exploitation are evident today, GJU today is influencing my career portfolio and encouraging me to achieve my goals by building on existing cross-sector collaborations. I, therefore, will always look forward to continuing and contributing to GJU innovation and excellence strategy through diverse partnership of the policy commitment construct that advanced research and development in modern sciences will seed.

In February 2014, I became an Assistant Professor at the German Jordanian University in the School of Basic Sciences and Humanities. I was promoted to Associate Professor in February 2016. Previously I was at Cranfield University, UK, Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan, Al-Balqa Applied University, Jordan and Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia. Following a degree in Applied Mathematics from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan, I completed my PhD in Applied and Computational Mathematics at the Manchester Metropolitan University, Manchester, UK in 2004, with a thesis entitled ‘Mathematical and Numerical Study of Two-Phase Flow Models’. After I returned to Jordan, I promoted my fundamental applied and numerical mathematics interest with an emphasis on its importance to societal requirements and other problem-driven research. Loosely speaking, am a scientist who started his career from Jordan and who returned to work in Jordan after completing my PhD in the UK. Since then I have shown exceptional promise and ability as a scientist from the developing world. Further, to ensure that my research activities remain at the forefront of international research I broadly developed a portfolio of personal and joint research projects and collaborations with appropriate individuals both regionally and internationally. With my diverse multinational experience, am honored for my distinguished achievements and contributions through my professional development by holding various international fellowships in applied and computational mathematics, editorial board with a variety of international journals and international conferences.

Educational Background

Computational Applied Mathematics, Manchester Metropolitan University, Manchester, UK
Applied Mathematics, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan
Research Interests

I have conducted an outstanding research and managed to maintain a high level of research activity in several developing countries. Often these are carried out in difficult conditions where it would have been just easier to concentrate on the teaching side only of my career. These always reflect on my very high level of research achieved, on my strong determination to carry on with my research often in adverse conditions and on developing strong and mutually beneficial ties with many members of the scientific community.

My expertise is on mathematical and numerical tools of hyperbolic partial differential equations governing multi-phase fluid flow problems. Current research is at the forefront of applied and computational mathematics with a large number of practical applications in applied sciences and in industry, with the potential of attracting collaboration and funding and of enhancing the prestige of anything in mind. This has been recognized as evidence by publications in leading international journals, presentations at international conferences and research visits to international research centers.

Over the course of my diverse research and teaching experiences, I have gained valuable insights on how to effectively manage lecturing mathematical sciences. As I continue in my academic career I want to stay involved with students. I will continue to focus on getting the students to participate, and do my part in presenting the material in a way that can be understood by all students. I find my enthusiasm is a key to keeping students actively interested and involved. Such enthusiasm must be kept high in the constant pursuit of the ultimate goal of lecturing, which is the sharing of a passion for learning and knowledge. One thing that I am particularly looking forward to is to provide my students with the necessary background and skills to reach higher levels in mathematical sciences particularly in computational and applied mathematics. In addition to that, my current research provides several opportunities for students of applied and computational sciences to attend seminar presentations up to the PhD research topics covering the entire range from mathematical modelling to numerical implementation. Having had the opportunity to actively reflect upon my teaching and lecturing approaches, I now have a better understanding in creating an environment for my students in which maximum learning can take place.

My diverse educational and professional background offers me a unique platform to teach and relate creatively with different groups of students. To me teaching is a great experience in helping others, staying in touch with the ever–changing environment of the highly interdisciplinary program, and gaining a better sense of my own goals. Even after several years of teaching, I believe that it is important to continuously update my teaching approaches as a university professor. I will continue to look for opportunities to share my great enthusiasm for mathematics, to reduce any latent mathematics anxiety that some students may have and to instill into the students the sense of beautiful connection between mathematics and nature at work with the resulting contentment that it brings. I am also looking forward to learn and share new ideas not only with students but with my colleagues. With my academic and work experience, I would be able to teach in any of the following subjects.

  • Calculus
  • Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations
  • Engineering and Applied Mathematics
  • Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing
