On Monday 8th of May 2017, the Committee for Education and Research from the German Parliament, visited German Jordanian University (GJU), to learn more about the university, its achievements, and discuss some topics to enhance and develop the relationship between both parties.
Prof. Natheer Abu Obied, President of the university valued the continuous support received from Germany, clarifying that GJU is doing its best to improve and develop to achieve more.
He also gave a brief about the university since establishment, number of schools, bachelors and master programs, mentioning the distinguished partnership with different German’s universities to apply their experience in academic and vocational education inside GJU.
Abu Obied pointed out to GJU’s human roles toward refugees, represented by the Professional Diploma for Social Work (Refugees and Migration), and Architectural Conservation Master Program, appreciating any additional support that may contribute to enhance the possibility of improvements within the educational system.
From his side, Dr. Stefan Kaufmann, Member of the German Parliament expressed his respect to GJU’s role in educational and cultural exchange among students and teachers besides teaching German language, suggesting to teach the language at schools.
Both parties discussed issues regarding the renewable energy projects, vocational education, proposing to increase student’s exchange especially in the technical specialties that witnessing a high demand by the marketplace.
Dr. Kaufmann assured that the German Parliament will continue to support GJU since it represents one of the most successful projects between Jordan and Germany.
At the end of the meeting the guests visited the "Innovation Space" and Biogas Lab at School of Natural Resources Engineering and Management.
