On Thursday 19th of October 2017, Under the Patronage of H.E the Minister of Culture Mr. Nabeeh Shaqm, the Directorate of Culture of Madaba’s Governorate, with the cooperation of The Office of Adviser to the President for Local Community Affairs at German Jordanian University (GJU), has organized the opening of “Madaba’s First Art Exhibition” at GJU’s campus.

President of GJU, Dr. Manar Fayyad said that the university is always willing to interact with the local community, wishing for a continuous collaboration between GJU and local institutions in Madaba in all fields especially cultural activities.

From his side, Director of Directorate of Culture in Madaba thanked GJU for their collaboration in hosting the art exhibition, appreciating all efforts to make the exhibition a success.

Adviser to the President for Local Community Affairs, AbdulHakeem Arabiat said that the exhibition considered the first in terms of numbers of participations, clearing that it will be organized yearly to support artistic and cultural work in Madaba.

Coordinator of the exhibition, Mohamad Al-Souriki explained that the art work included many themes such as: Fighting terrorism, Humanitarian issues, Originality, National Unity, Jordanian heritage and Mosaic paintings.

 

 At the end of the ceremony, certificates of appreciation were distributed to the participating artists.

 The exhibition included seventy-four artistic work, presented by forty-five artists from Madaba.
