On Sunday 14th of January 2018, a delegation from the University of Dusseldorf visited the German Jordanian University (GJU), to discuss academic cooperation and present the European Studies Master’s program that Dusseldorf University offers to Middle East’s students.

The President of GJU Prof. Manar Fayyad gave an introduction about GJU since establishment clarifying that GJU adopts the system of applied education similar to the German universities, indicating that the number of German universities partners exceeded 100 universities, in addition to partnerships with the German industrial and commercial sectors to assimilate the students and facilitate their educational and practical experience during their study in Germany.

The German delegation that included Program Director, Prof. Hartwing Hummel, Executive Director, Prof. Guido Quetsch, and Senior Lecturer, Prof. Joerg Walsmann conducted a presentation about the Master's program; showing its main objectives of qualifying students to become experts in Europe, discuss European integration as a peace process and establish personal networks among the students belonging to the program.

The delegation also explained that graduates could pursue employment in government offices, diplomatic services, parliamentary services, NGOs, media, German and European humanitarian institutions in the Middle East, and private companies.

The program, which was established in 2015, consists of two steps; the first step, one-year preparation studies in the Middle East while the second requires subsequent one year MA Program at the University of Dusseldorf in Germany with a full scholarship. The program contains six courses: European institutions, European history, European Economics, European Politics and Society, and Integration Theory.
