On Monday, June 17, 2019, a delegation from the Palestinian Ministry of Transport visited the German Jordanian University (GJU) to discuss means of cooperation in the fields of logistic sciences, which includes shipping, storage and transportation.

The Vice President of GJU, Dr. Atef Kharabsheh welcomed the delegation in the presence of the Dean of the School of Management and Logistic Sciences (SMLS), Dr. Malek Alsharairi and a number of academics in the school.

During the meeting, Kharabsheh presented an overview of the university and the majors, noting that it was built in the same way as the German universities in Applied Sciences.

He added that the university system is based on sending students in the penultimate year to Germany for one year to study at one of the German university partners, as well as getting training opportunities in German companies or factories. Explaining that the students have become ambassadors representing their country Jordan in Germany.

Alsharairi presented an overview of the school, the programs and majors, which include Management Sciences Logistic Sciences, International Accounting, and the Master's Program in Management Sciences, which targets employees in transport, shipping and logistic departments.

He also talked about the Dual Studies, which is the first program of its kind in Jordan in cooperation with the industrial sector, where he explained that this program is based on training the students on the skills required and guiding them in correct ways inside various companies and institutions, in order to provide the job market with qualified graduates.

Alsharairi added that GJU earned endorsement by IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants), one of the largest and most respected associations focused exclusively on advancing the management accounting profession. This endorsement is the first and only IMA-endorsed accounting program in Jordan and this is a testament to the quality of our curriculum that will benefit both the future careers of our students and the organizations where they will work.

The General Director of the Palestinian Licensing Authority Yahya Akoobeh expressed his happiness with his visit to GJU, praising the achievements of the University. He also stressed the importance of building partnerships between the two sides to provide better practical opportunities for Palestinians especially with their exceptional circumstances in which they live and in order to create a professional generation capable to interact with the requirements and needs of the labor market.

At the end of the visit, the delegation that included the Legal Consultant Essam Barghouthi and the General Director of Technical Affairs Sa’ed Moqadah, toured the campus of the university.
