In the frame of the Global Entrepreneurship Week 2014 (GEW), the Office for Industrial Links at GJU organized a workshop for students on “Entrepreneurship: Inspiration and Implementation“.

 
 
The GEW, which is organized in Jordan under the umbrella of Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship (QRCE), offers a variety of activities to engage entrepreneurial students in a wide range of events and competitions worldwide throughout one week.
 
 
Ms. Britta Kaehler, Head of the Office for Industrial Links, welcomed the guests and thanked the team of students, who worked hard to organize this workshop. For her part, Ms. Heba Othman, from QRCE introduced the GEW events in Jordan and the activities of her center, which supports entrepreneurship development programs through competitions and trainings.
 
 
GJU President Prof. Natheer Abu Obeid greeted the guests and students, expressing his pleasure to attend this event for the second time, as it is very important and enhances the entrepreneurial spirit among participants, especially students. The president emphasized that the whole world is facing the challenge of economic growth; therefore, it is necessary to create an eco-system that foster employment through entrepreneurship by bringing together the policies, structures and relevant programs.
 
 
Eng. Jamil Khatib, Innovation Consultant at Ibtecar and Program Innovation at GJU, gave a presentation about “Innovative Graduation Projects”, in which he elaborated the process of choosing the best project for graduation that will open career opportunities and meet real needs.
 
 
On his side, Dr. Ala’a Khalifah from GJU’s School of Computer Engineering gave an insight about “Entrepreneurship: How to get started” in which he describes the top steps on how to get started by having a good idea, a good team, a funding scheme and a workplace.

 

The event hosted additional distinguished speakers like Eng. Sami Shalabi from Google, a Boston based software inventor, entrepreneur, and angel investor who elaborated in his presentation about “Guide to Entrepreneurship” on how to launch a startup and actually transform ideas to reality.

 
 
Mr.Ahmad Almousa gave an overview about Oasis500, which is a leading early stage and seed investment company in Jordan that strives to create opportunities for individuals to establish their own innovative companies.

 

From GJU’s School of Management and Logistics, Ms. Eman Abida introduced different helpful entrepreneurship tools; and Eng. Saed Younes, a GJU graduate, presented his Arab Entrepreneurs Podcast “Riyadi min Biladi” in which he interviews successful entrepreneurs from Jordan and the Arab world to motivate young people to create their own business paths.

 

Mr. Mohammad Al-Faouri, General Manager of Pioneers Academy, gave a presentation about leadership in which he provided samples of what defines a leader including passion, dedication, openness and a clear vision.

 

The workshop, which was also attended by representatives from the American Embassy in Jordan and several GJU staff members, concluded with a business ideas competition and some presentations of GJU students who shared their projects and business ideas, which got the attention of the speakers. The winner was awarded a price sponsored by Pioneers Academy.
