Amman- 30 April 2019

Ulrike Stadtmüller, Vice-Dean of the Department of Engineering, and Jochen Rau, Professor of Mathematics and a distinguished researcher in Quantum Probability and Quantum Computing, from RheinMain University of Applied Sciences are visiting GJU from 21 April to 30 April 2019.

Professor Stadtmüller is meeting with the International Office and representatives of different Schools to further strengthen the cooperation between GJU and RheinMain University of Applied Sciences. Both universities are already affiliated via a Memorandum of Understanding and have ongoing, highly successful cooperation’s in various study programs, including architecture and design, mechanical engineering, and applied medical sciences.

Professor Stadtmüller is exploring opportunities to expand this existing cooperation to additional degree programs within the Department of Engineering, such as electrical or environmental engineering. This may entail not only exchanges of students but also joint research projects.

Professor Rau is visiting GJU as a Flying Faculty member and is teaching a series of lectures on advanced Calculus and Differential Equations for GJU undergraduate students in the School of Basic Sciences and Humanities.

In his lectures, delivered in both German and English, Professor Rau also introduces the RheinMain University and offers students the opportunity to ask questions about the German educational system.

His lectures expose students to the teaching style at a German university and help them prepare for their studies in Germany. Students listened carefully to Professor Rau, raised many questions and engaged in stimulating discussions. In addition, Professor Rau discussed scientific problems and future collaborations with SBSH faculty members.

Professors Stadtmüller and Rau agreed with their Jordanian counterparts that the various exchange programs have been highly successful and beneficial for both sides.

They also have expressed their hope that this cooperation can be intensified further, and in particular, that many more bright students, faculty and staff members from both sides will make use of the interesting opportunities for exchange.

RheinMain University of Applied Sciences is located in the cities of Wiesbaden and Rüsselsheim, both within the vibrant Frankfurt metropolitan area in the center of Germany.

It offers more than 70-degree programs in five different departments. In addition to this broad range of study programs, the university is also at the forefront of research in areas such as nanotechnology, the future of mobility, information and communication technology, as well as environmental and process engineering.
