On Thursday, January 23, 2020, the International Office (IO) and the Office for Industrial Links (OIL) at the German Jordanian University (GJU), organized a Farewell Ceremony for the Outgoing Students - Second Semester 2020.
The President of GJU Prof. Manar Fayyad, Vice Presidents prof. Atef Kharabsheh and Prof. Ralf Roßkopf attended the ceremony, besides Vice Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Thelal Owais, Mr. Tobias Caris, and Mr. Nils Kreyenborg from the German Embassy, Director of Fintiba, Oliver Loesdau, Etihad Bank representatives, and Gabriele Von from DAAD.
Prof. Manar Fayyad explained that the German Year is an important Pillar where the students develop their personalities, skills, and experience.
Fayyad encouraged the students to benefit from this opportunity in enhancing their German language and learn about different cultures, urging them to be the ideal ambassador for our country and University.
She assured the students that the involved parties at GJU and the Project Office- Magdeburg in Germany are ready to support them in any issue.
Director of IO, Mr. Jens Hegemann, congratulated the students for reaching a turning point of their lives, he asked the students to benefit from the event and learn from previous students' experiences, assuring them that they will be provided with all support and assistance during their stay in Germany.
In his speech, Vice President Prof. Ralf Roßkopf said that the German Year would influence the personal development of the student academically and professionally. He asked the students to improve their German language, be responsible, and receive the challenges as opportunities and turn them into a success story.
In their turn, Mr. Caris and Mr. Kreyenborg spoke about the excellent relationship between Jordan and Germany, mentioning the great achievements of GJU since the establishment. They advised the students to embrace the differences between the cultures, have fun, and learn a lot.
Moreover, Dr. Thelal Owais expressed her pride in the students' achievements over the past four years, including the accomplishments in almost all curriculum and extracurricular activities. She advised the students to be active, always be open to new things, and embrace discomfort as it allows them to seek new opportunities.
Furthermore, IO, OIL, and GJUs’ student Qais Dofesh conducted a presentation on “Living and Studying in Germany” and “Internship in Germany”. On another hand, Ulrike Marquardt from the Project Office at Magdeburg also gave an introduction about the Office's roles in Germany.
At the end of the ceremony, GJU's talented students (Omar Zuaiter, Sara Zyoud, Tarek Kilani, Kareem Abdo, Anabelle Abu Hanna, Hala Rifai’), entertained the audience with a musical segment.
