German & English for Business Communication (GEBC) students from the School of Applied Humanities and Languages (SAHL) visit ArabiaWeather Inc. headquarters in Amman.
The students were received and introduced to the ArabiaWeather team and offices. They were then shown a brief presentation about the company and the markets the company serves.
ArabiaWeather Inc. is one of the largest weather companies in the Arab World and the only weather company in the Middle East. As a B2B and B2C company, its target markets cover the following targets: consumer, media, sky, land, sea, and government.
GEBC students asked many questions about how their major would benefit such a company in terms of language and communication skills. In addition, they also asked about how they can ensure internship opportunities and jobs at ArabiaWeather Inc. as soon as they graduate from SAHL, GJU.
Mr. Yousef Al-Sayeh, B2B Product Manager at ArabiaWeather Inc., stressed on how important language is for the content the company produces for its main clients in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and the Gulf Markets in general. Language is needed in translating content from English into Arabic and vice versa in order to offer an interactive media product on social media outlets such as: Facebook posts, Twitter tweets, and live footage of current weather conditions. As explained by Mr. Al-Sayeh, written forecasts in the media aviation sector is essential for visibility information. Nowadays, a good weather forecast that complements the lifestyle industry in the Mena Region is becoming a huge part of the weather industry, added Mr. Al-Sayeh.
ArabiaWeather’s laid back environment encouraged the students to ask specific questions about how to apply for future internships at their company and about how they can get into the weather industry in terms of graphic design training that can be offered by the company once they get hired. GEBC students thanked Mr. Al-Sayeh for his informative presentation and left with a positive impression about the company and its staff.
