A cultural delegation from Germany in conjunction with the visit of Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Jordan, paid a visit to the School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) at German Jordanian University  on Tuesday  20th of October, 2015.

 

The key objective of the delegation’s visit was negotiating several ways of cooperation in the areas of business of culture, knowledge and education in  addition to the focal points of having new programs in Humanitarian studies and social work and urban studies that are all associated to the refugees issue in order to make the relevant access procedures more time-effective.

 

The GJU President, Prof. Natheer Abu. Obeid warmly greeted the delegation, speaking about the university success story, its educational system as well as its applied approach.

He underscored that GJU is a house of enlightenment, and it is combining between education, knowledge, culture and civilization. He also extended his gratitude and appreciations to all German parties that are always supporting of GJU. 

 

Dr. Andreas Görgen, Head of Culture and Communication - Ministry of Foreign Affair, praised GJU's successful project, its intellectual openness environment, and the whole transitional concept of the university.

 

He further emphasized that  Jordan and Germany have a close interaction on the urgent refugees issues, discussing different ways of cooperation between the two sides to work effectively and support new programs that are targeting this issue, to achieve more success in helping the refugees and to integrate them  in society to rebuild and restore the region.

 

Moreover, Prof. Dr. Margret Wintermantel, President of DAAD, emphasized that GJU is a good example of functional successful project, reached this by the hands of one team who always work hard.

 

She also stressed on establishing new curriculums that are special, in the areas of social work.

 

The delegation including also,  Prof. Dr. Friederike Fless, President of the German Archaeological Institute, Prof. Dr. Naika Foroutan, Deputy Director -Humboldt University Institute for Empirical Research integration and migration,  Prof. Dr. Günther Schauerte, Vice President of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, Mr. Hadi Teherani, Hadi Teherani Architects GmbH and Mr. Andreas Wutz , Director of DAAD Office –Amman.
