A German delegation from the North Rhine-Westphalia State (NRW) headed by the State Secretary for Federal Affairs, Europe and International Affairs Dr. Mark Speich visited the German-Jordanian University (GJU) to discuss ways of joint cooperation between the two parties.

During the visit, the delegation met the president of GJU Prof. Manar Fayyad, and the two vice presidents, Prof. Atef Kharabsheh and Prof. Dorit Schumann, the Senior Policy Advisor to the President Christof Muehlberg, the Director of Office for Industrial Links Britta Kähler, Jordanian and German students and Dr. Alaeddin Halhouli

During the meeting, Fayyad presented an overview of the university's history and stages of development, noting that it was built in the same way as the German universities in Applied Sciences. Adding that the university consists of (9) faculties which offers twenty-eight academic programs, specialized in Applied Engineering Sciences and Administrative Sciences for Bachelor's and Master's Degrees.

She pointed out that the university system is based on sending students in the penultimate year to Germany for one year to study at one of the German university partner, as well as getting training opportunities in German companies or factories.

Kähler also presented a summary of the functions of the Office for Industrial Links and its role in strengthening the University's relations with German industrial enterprises. While the students talked about their experiences in Germany and Jordan, mentioning the benefits and experiences they gained during their stay.

The aspects of scientific and applied research in the university were reviewed and the quality of graduates who have many of the skills and competencies necessary to meet the needs of the labor market.

Speich expressed the state's interest in strengthening relations with GJU and increasing cooperation between the two sides in the fields of scientific, cultural and academic exchanges.

The delegation includes Deputy Head of Unit “International Relations with the Middle East and Africa RD Wael El-Gayar, Personal Assistant Eva Offele, the Jordanian Consul in Dosseldorf Claus Gielisch and the Cultural Attaché at the German Embassy Tobias Caris.

The NRW considered as a major industrial center with around (61) universities and (100) scientific research centers.
