The German-Jordanian University (GJU), represented by its president, Prof. Ala'aldeen Al-Halhouli, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Siemens Healthineers, represented by Mr. Ole Per Maloy, Managing Director of Siemens Healthineers Middle East, Southern & Eastern Africa and the First National Medical Service, represented by its founder, Mr. Ahmed Abdul Hadi. Being the first of its kind in the Kingdom of Jordan and only the second one in the Middle East, this agreement is aiming to establish a specialized Innovation Think Tank laboratory to support innovative thinking on campus.

The President of GJU expressed his pride on the unique partnership which is based on Siemens Healthineers’ successful history in providing know-how and encouraging academics, researchers and students to think outside the box. This cooperation will trigger creative solutions to current and future challenges across and the development of tailored innovations for regional purposes in the medical and healthcare industry.

He added that this center, under the leadership of Prof. Sultan Haider, Founder and Global Head of Innovation Think Tank at Siemens Healthineers, will provide a sustainable and forward looking infrastructure by establishing a creative thinking laboratory on campus and the launch of an ITT Certification Program will support entrepreneurial ideas with a special focus on projects enhancing quality of life and strengthening partnerships between research centers in universities and healthcare institutions.

 

For Mr. Maloy, Siemens Healthineers partnership with the German-Jordanian University seeks to address local challenges by developing the innovative capabilities of the younger generation and future healthcare professionals as well as to develop joint grants and research.

The signing ceremony was also attended by The Dean of Innovation, Technology Transfer and Leadership, Dr. Nidal Al Shawwara, the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, Dr. Ibrahim Tarawneh, the Vice Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Iyad Hamad, the Head of The Department of Biomedical Engineering, Dr. Samir Hassan and Engineer Jamil Al Khatib, Director of the Office of Leadership and Innovation.

At the ceremony, Siemens Healthineers was also represented by Mr. Syed Mehdi, Head of Innovation Think Tank MESA Zone and Mr. Gustav Krueger, Country Manager for Jordan. For FNMS, Mr. Basil Qabartai, Project and Sales Manager at FNMS and Mr. Sohib Yassin, Head of Training Center at FNMS were present during the signing of the memorandum.

All parties are envisaging a fruitful and longer-term collaboration to support and foster the future of the local healthcare industry.
