GJU President Prof. Natheer Abu Obeid said that GJU was able during a short period of time to offer a new model, and to create a success story in the Higher Education in Jordan and in the region.
He also asserted that the most important strategic achievement for GJU is that it could take a quantum leap in the Jordanian society’s point of view towards the Applied Education as it found a respect by the business sector, which is now eager to attract the GJU graduates.
The president pointed out that GJU has offered during its’ first decade several academic programs at the bachelor and master’s levels, within the engineering and technical disciplines. Some of them are offered in partnerships with some German and European universities. He mentioned that GJU has launched and applied the slogan “E for E “; “Education for Employment “, and will adopt the slogan "E for E & E" in the reference to "Education for Entrepreneurship and Employment".
For her part, Dr. Johanna Wanka emphasized that this educational edifice (GJU), which was established by a Royal Decree ten years ago, is the fruit of the success of cooperation between the German and Jordanian governments.
She highlighted that Jordan is keen to focus on higher education, and pointed out the the importance of GJU's Exchange year for students considering it an important step in identifying the culture of both countries.
It is worthy to mention that GJU President honored the distinguished figures who contributed to establishing GJU, H.E. Prof. Labib Khadra, Prof. Andreas Geiger, Federal Ministry of Education and Research - Germany, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) ,Hochschule Magdeburg-Stendal and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Jordan.
The opening ceremony included a Screening of GJU Image Film “ GJU A Success Story “ , in addition to many activities and Exhibitions of German Institutions and German Industries in Jordan, and the German Partner Universities , as well as to a tour through GJU Campus.
