The Department of Social Work /School of Applied Humanities and Languages ​​(SAHL) at the German Jordanian University (GJU), in cooperation with the Anti-Narcotics Department of the Public Security Directorate, celebrated the International Day of Social Work, with the participation of GJU students and schools’ students of Naour District.

The head of the Social Work Department, Dr. Bader Al-Madi, and faculty member, Dr. Sahar Makhamreh, indicated that the celebration aims at raising awareness among the young generation about drugs, praising the efforts of the Drug Control Department in addressing this issue that has become a threat to every home and generations.

For his part, the Anti-Narcotics Department representative gave a lecture in which he explained the definition of drugs, types, the reasons for their abuse, the health, social, economic, and societal harms, and methods of early detection of drug abusers. During the lecture, the Department presented actual stories on the subject and their effect on lives, families, and person's futures.

At the end of the ceremony, the participants visited the mobile exhibition of the Anti-Narcotics Department.
