The Startup Weekend GJU team in coordination with the Office for Industrial Links at the German Jordanian University celebrated its young entrepreneurs. The event comes after the conclusion of Startup Weekend GJU. Participants, organizers and mentors received congratulatory cheers as they ascended the stage to receive their certificates.

Startup Weekend GJU was an opportunity for students to create their startups in only 3 days. Participants showed great determination and courage in their projects, and they came up with creative ideas that they continued to work on even after the event.

Some speeches were given throughout the ceremony to celebrate the participants. Britta Kähler the director of the Office for Industrial Links, gave a welcome speech and congratulations to the participants, while GJU’s professor Dr. Ala’ Khalifah gave a speech about the challenges and opportunities for young entrepreneurs. Omar Jubran, the lead organizer of the event congratulated the participants on their progress and their achievement, and finally the stage was given out to students to talk about their projects and achievements, they also discussed what their next steps will be.

The certificates were handed out by Mr. Ali Hilli, one of the core founders of the Startup Weekend initiative in Jordan. The organizers and mentors had the chance to sit and meet the teams after the ceremony, and they were impressed by the progress the teams have made during the time after Startup Weekend. Many teams had questions on how to improve further, while others had a complete shift as they changed ideas or teams.

After the Iftar sponsored by the German Jordanian University, there was a competition organized by Concrete: the student club for entrepreneurship. Teams were divided to fuel enthusiasm. Participants were asked to go through a series of challenges and they were awarded points accordingly.

The GJU is proud of its young entrepreneurs, and hopes to continue their support to launch successful startups, or guide them towards a more innovative and collaborative environment, were they are able to achieve great projects.
