On Tuesday, June 15, 2021, The Road Safety Center of Excellence (RSCE )at the German Jordanian University (GJU), has partnered with Vision Zero Youth Council (VZYC)- Jordan, "Deterrent on the Road" initiative, led by Arch. Sana' Khasawneh.

The initiative aims at raising awareness and educating University students on Road Safety by creating a Youth-driven movement through "Vision Zero" platform.

Arch. Mohammad Alfar, Director at the Road Safety Center of Excellence, said that Vision Zero is a street safety program, which originally began in Sweden. Its goal is to reduce traffic deaths and serious injuries to zero. It focuses on improving street design, increasing education, and implementing better policy.

Furthermore, Arch. Sana' Khasawneh, Road Safety Specialist, Activist and coordinator of the initiative, explained that by becoming a member in the organization the students gets to attend meetings to discuss current issues surrounding our streets, and all the solutions that are possible. In addition, they could participate in educational sessions and events to enact change in our communities.  

​RSCE was established at the German Jordanian University in cooperation with Hikmat Road Safety in 2008. The center's activities revolve around the around Education, Engineering and Enforcement.  It aims at creating a strategic sustained impact on Road Safety in Jordan and the region.
