With the newly installed Illumina sequencer at the German Jordanian University  (GJU), the researchers and lead researcher Walid Al Zyoud, PhD with his team Munib Saket, PhD from the School of Applied Medical Sciences (SAMS), and Hazem Haddad, MSc. will have just the right tool to super enhance their ongoing research projects.

Dr. Al-Zyoud stated; " COVID-19 pandemic has significantly triggered #Genomics-based research all over the world, in response to that and other projects, we have recently acquired the iSeq-100 from Illumina with the support of LeanGene for Medical & Electronic Supplies -Jordan, and we hope to put our middle eastern academic institution on the world's map of Genome and Microbiome based research. Having Illumina sequencing technology that combines complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology with the innovative proven accuracy of sequencing by synthesis (SBS) will definitely strengthen our long-term task force in this regard".

It is also worth mentioning that previously, Dr. Al-Zyoud has published his first-of-its-kind microbiome paper in Jordan by sequencing his samples in USA using Illumina sequencing technology (Source: LeanGene-Jordan).
