The German Jordanian University (GJU) held a discussion session on the importance of youth participation in municipal and provincial councils and their role in the democratic reform process.

The session comes as part of the national campaign to encourage elections organized by the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs and the Ministry of Local Administration in cooperation with the PARTICIPATE program, one of the Crown Prince Foundation initiatives to enhance youth democratic practices through training sessions on the basic principles of democracy, human rights, political parties, elections and the role of the media.

Engineer Orouba Al-Awamreh, the Ministry of Local Administration representative, pointed out the importance of motivating young people to participate in the elections. She explained the local administration law, which aims to maximize municipal work and consolidate the local administration to be an incubator for comprehensive development.

On the other hand, she indicated the necessity of choosing the right candidate capable of identifying needs and setting priorities, displaying the impact of their choice on the development of the governorates and municipal areas.

The Dean of Deanship of Student Affairs (DSA), Dr. Thelal Oweis, valued the "I Participate" program and its influence in motivating young people to participate in the elections, praising the role of His Highness, Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, and his keenness to engage young people in decision-making, and involve them in public life.

Thirty-seven GJU students participated in the Participate program. The students discussed the challenges facing young people politically and economically and the expected role of municipal and provincial councils in creating development and planned projects in the governorates.
