On Thursday, September 26 2019, The Department of Social Work - the School of Applied Humanities and Languages (SAHL) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) held “Higher Education Dialogue Conference on Social Work with Refugees: Presentation of the Findings of the Students'  Projects”.

The conference is funded and conducted in the framework of the German Academic Exchange Agency (DAAD) Higher Education Dialogue Project "Refugees, Host Communities and the SDG's "which will be implemented in early 2019 and will continue until the end of December 2020.

In addition to the GJU, Yarmouk University -Jordan, AL Najah University -Palestine, the Lebanese University -Lebanon and the University of Würzburg Schweinfurt (FHSW) -Germany, as well as representatives from international and local refugee organizations participated in this project.

During the opening ceremony, Prof. Manar Fayyad, the President of the University, Vice President for International Affairs, Prof. Ralf Roßkopf and the Head of the Department of Social Work, Dr. Christine Huth-Hildebrandt stressed the importance of the subject especially from the academic aspect to develop more researches on refugees, host communities, and the incorporation of sustainable development goals.

The conference also included another project funded by DAAD, “Social Work and Refugees” where Students from Balqa Applied University (BAU) - Jordan, ALNajah University -Palestine, Magdeburg Stendal Applied Sciences University- Germany, and Neubrandenburg Applied Sciences University- Germany presented their research results during the year.
