The International Office (IO) and the School of Applied Humanities and Languages (SAHL) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) organized a welcoming meeting for the Arabic and Culture Summer School that included 40 incoming students from different universities in Germany and Europe on Sunday, August 1, 2021.

The President of GJU, Prof. Manar Fayyad, expressed her delight in welcoming the incoming students face to face after the ban due to the pandemic. She encouraged the students to learn and explore during their stay, stressing the importance of following safety and social distancing measures.

The Director of IO, Ms. Stefanie Kirsch, said that the Summer Course Program includes several aspects such as learning Arabic, participating in intercultural training and activities to experience the Jordanian and Arab culture, traditions, and modern local life in Amman, viewing stunning nature and visiting historical sites in Jordan.

Moreover, the IO and SAHL conducted an interactive intercultural training workshop on Sunday, August 8, 2021, with the participation of GJU’s students, where they had the opportunity to interact together and discuss several cultural topics.

It is worth mentioning that the workshop covered topics related to intercultural competencies, social interactions, cultural appropriation, youth activism, civil space, and gender roles.
