On Thursday March 29, the German Jordanian University has hosted the Stanford Women in Data Science Conference, through its ambassador Eng. Rasha Al Ababseh. Which was attended by diverse audience being students, academics, and professionals. 

We live in a relentlessly changing word with more and more information flowing in left, right and center. Women in Data Science (WiDS) have a lot under its sleeve to bring the field of data science, a field that converts all inputs and data around us into meaningful information that can be used to improve the quality of our daily life. Also, this conference has a special mission which is to shatter the misconceptions about the vital role that women play in all fields, particularly, the data science field.

This globally bespoke event was founded by Stanford University in a bid of sharing the latest and most effective manners from different parts of the world to gather and properly utilize data inputs to improve our quality of life. this year, the main conference of Women in Data Science (WiDS) took place in Stanford University with a massive crowd of over 100,000 participants from more than 53 countries; all that is to shed the light on the vitality of this field and how is it becoming more and more important as it addresses the unavoidable trends in our current and expected future lifestyle.

It is a sheer pleasure to witness such an innovative gathering taking place in Jordan this year and for the very first time.

This continuously proves to the world that our beloved country is a bottomless well of innovative and bright talents that are capable of challenging the status quo and prove their singularity; it is of no wonder why Jordan is among the few countries in the Middle East to host such an event with local distinguished and very inspiring female speakers and moderators discussing various aspects of the wide topic of data science..

The GJU President, Prof. Manar Fayyad, pointed out in her opening note to the importance of such conferences to place Jordan and its female talents in the forefront of the global image of modern innovation.

The WiDS Ambassador, Eng. Rasha Alababseh, mentioned that the significance of this event isn’t to be limited to just a gathering of bright minds sharing their experience and knowledge in the field of data science, it sends out a bold and clear message, that we as ladies, are here to unleash our potential, we are here to help and improve not only to our country but also to the world as a whole.

At the end, we would like to thank Eng. Rasha Alababseh for her distinguished effort organizing such conference, and to thank Haitham Kresheh for his marvelous support.
