On 14th of October 2017, The Office of Adviser to the President for Local Community Affairs at German Jordanian University (GJU) with the cooperation of Afnan School, affiliated to Directorate of Educationin Madaba, Al-Jazeera and Al-Istiklal Hospitals organized a free medical day for local community in Madaba.

The medical day that was held in Al-Khatabia Elementary School included clinics specialized in family medicine, diabetes, herbal medicine, general surgery, pathology, pediatrics, besides diabetes and pressure tests and awareness of early detection of breast cancer.

During the opening ceremony the President of GJU Dr. Manar Fayyad, said that serving the community and contributing to its development consider one of GJU’s priorities, clearing that the activity achieves harmony and integration between the university and the local community.

She added that GJU will continue providing creative and pioneering initiatives for positive change and to encourage the participants to give more to their society and country.  

Directorate of Education Director, Mohammad Al-Thawabieh and the School’s Principle Mariam Al-Nsairat appreciated the efforts and support of all the sponsors in providing a health service.

From his side the Executive Director in Al-Jazeera Hospital said, that free medical days are a reflection of collaboration between the private sector and local institutions in the field of voluntary work.

Adviser to the President for Local Community Affairs at GJU Abdulhakeem Arabiat, pointed out that the event is one of many activities in the university’s agenda toward the local community.

Around 200 people mostly children and elderly benefited from the free medical day, that was also supported by a number of pharmaceutical companies and medical supplies.
