Concrete Entrepreneurship Club from the German Jordanian University (GJU) in collaboration with GJU Program Innovation and Entrepreneurship (PIE) took part in the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) for the second year in a row; the club implemented on November, 18 the Global Challenges Ideathon on the 10th anniversary of the GEW adopting five of the United Nations Global Goals 2030 (UNSDGS):

Goal 6:  Clean Water & Sanitation

Goal 7:  Clean & Affordable Energy

Goal 9:  Industrial Innovation and Infrastructure

Goal 11: Sustainable Cities & Communities

Goal 12: Responsible Consumption & Production

The competition was hosted in Ithraa's venue Park Plaza. The students who participated were from GJU and the Jordanian University for Science & Technology (JUST), where they were divided into teams to work on innovative solutions for the global challenges merging social responsibility with entrepreneurship as one of Concrete's missions. The event was a result of a very successful collaboration between Concrete DSA and AEE DSA clubs with the partners PIE, Make Sense, International Youth Ambassadors Foundation, the Jordanian Center of Excellence for Innovation, Careem, and Dimitries.

The event started with a brief introduction about GEW and Concrete Club by Ms. Saja Badran – President of the club, followed by Mr. Abdelrahman Zorgan - Ambassador of One Young World and, UNHCR who gave an introduction of the UNSDGS.

After the session of Mr. Khalil Najjar - Manager of Jordan Youth Impact Labs at Mercy Corps, talked about “IDEATION”, and the teams started writing their problem statements, brainstorm, and ideate.

Afterwards, Mr. Mohammed Obaidat - Entrepreneurship Consultant, held a Business Model session, where it was an interactive session for teams to fill their business canvases, ask questions, and get mentoring.

Finally, teams started to work on their pitches to present it in front of high profiled judging panel, each team had 3 minutes pitch and 2 minutes for Q&A. Our judging panel was a combination of entrepreneurs, innovators and change makers, Ms. Lina Hourani from CSR Al Ahli Holding Group, Mr. Omar Shoshan from Jordan Federation for Environmental, Dr. Mutaz Almuhtaseb from Super Solar, Mr. Amer Shehade from Global Degnity, and Ms. Sa’eda Haddad International Yout Foundation

Moreover, after presentations of high quality of solutions and a competitive atmosphere, the 1st prize (worth of 250 USD) was given to Ammar Budair (Industrial Engineering student) who presented a solution for responsible electricity usage, for the Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.
