The Euro-Mediterranean-Arab Association (EMA) implemented the 3rd German-Arab Environment & Energy Forum which brought together different stakeholders from Germany and Jordan to discuss pressing questions around topics related to Water Technologies, Energy, Recycling, and Eco Mobility.

The event was part of a business delegation visit from Germany that also included site visits to companies in Amman and Aqaba.

The Forum took place on 24th of February 2019 at the Amman Chamber of Commerce under the patronage of H.R.H. Prince Hassan bin Talal and former Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Sigmar Gabriel.

In the Opening words, the German Ambassador and EMA President Gabriele Groneberg emphasized on the importance of the longstanding friendly German Jordanian relationship in various fields of business, education, cultural exchange, and technical cooperation.

One of the key messages was the need of awareness programs in the fields of green environment, solar energy and new technologies to address the water scarcity in the region and disseminate alternative energy resources.

Prof. Dorit Schumann, Vice President of the German Jordanian University (GJU) and Dr. Emad Hatamleh from the School of Management and Logistics (SMLS) at GJU, gave insights on “Sustainable Humanitarian Supply Chains for Refugees in Jordan” and “Green Logistics and Transportation”.

Dr. Arwa shed light on "Using, Reducing, Recycling: Water Management in Industrial and Agricultural Production".

It is worth mentioning that GJU students volunteered in supporting the logistics of the event.

The German-Arab Environment & Energy Forum provided a large opportunity for the participants from Jordan and Germany to network, extend their cooperation, and establish new collaboration opportunities.

For the German Jordanian University, it furthermore offered a platform to present and discuss the latest developments in different research fields with a focus on their practical implementations in order to enhance the overall university-industry cooperation.
